Overview

The Summer Professional Development course was created for university students & emerging professionals with a good intermediate level of English.
You can join for either 4 or 8 weeks and on successful completion will receive either a Certificate or Higher Certificate. Classes take place Monday to Friday 10am to 1pm with the option of English or Business English lessons in the afternoon.

Syllabus:

When most employers are asked what they are looking for in future employees they usually reply that they are looking for skills in a number of key areas. The ability to think strategically, work with others, and communicate effectively are all at the top of recruiters lists. The WLC Personal Development Programme reflects these requirements and also brings in a review of some important operational areas such as marketing for those less familiar with business study. These are consolidated with field trips and group presentations. The work is assessed by a group presentation at the end of the four or eight week period.

There are five areas of focus:

• Strategic – thinking strategically, seeing the big picture, case study analysis using strategic modelling.
• Operational – reviewing key business tools from operations, management and marketing.
• Team – leadership/management, team based roles and activities, Belbin assessment.
• Individual – personality assessment. NLP. Motivation, self-reflection, public speaking and negotiation.
• Project Focus – visits in London and group presentations.
